I own so many different lip stain formulas from balm to liquid to lipstick and all from a variety of different brands, its hard to choose a favourite! But I've managed to narrow it down to my top 5 lip stains to help you out in your search for the perfect one!
Sephora Rouge Lip Tint "Rose, Red" - My two favourite shades in the range. Super lightweight and watery formula, it literally feels like you dipped the brush into an ink pot. Easy to apply and doesn't dry out your lips! It also has a fantastic (and one of the best in my opinion) flat applicators.
Josie Maran Coconut Watercolour Lipstain & Shine
"Honeymoon Honey, Coral Oasis, Pink Escape, Getaway Red, Berry Bliss" - I know this is technically 5 lip stains but I overall love the brand/formula and every single one of the shades they offer in them! I also love that it has a gloss at the other end in the same shade, so you can add that sheen on top if you don't want just a flat lip colour.
Benefit "Benetint" - A cult classic. Benetint has been around for so long and I remember it being my very first real lip colour when I was about 14. A natural rosy red, like you just ate a cherry popsicle, and a tint you can also use on your cheeks. Who doesn't love a multi use product!
Lipstick Queen "Hello Sailor" - This lipstick tint is so fun! I love whipping this out in public and seeing people around you thinking you have lost your mind putting vivid blue lipstick on. I'll tell you a secret ... its actually a tint of a beautiful mauve. This is one of those colour changing lipsticks that works with your ph level and gives you your very own shade! Lipstick queen makes so many of these, my other favourites are 'Frog Prince' - a bright green! and 'Medieval' - a sheer red tint. Be sure to check this line out, especially if you have kids! Its fun for them and harmless tinted makeup. I know they carry the line in Nordstrom now!
Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm "Bitten Berry, Radient Rose" - The lip stains we went through about 10 tubes of on the tv series 'Reign'. These were the go to shades that just about every "princess" wore. Long lasting and very pigmented colour, with a nice plumping minty scent to it. What I love most about these is that they are very build-able in colour. You can go from having a nice sheer wash of colour to a vivid pop with a few more applications.
I hope these recommendations help in your lip stain search!
x Ashley
